Hajia 4Real Receives One-Year Sentence in U.S. Fraud Case

Ghanaian influencer Hajia 4Real, known for her music and social media presence, was sentenced today in a U.S. court to one year in prison for her involvement in an internet fraud scheme.

Hajia 4Real, whose legal name is Mona Faiz Montrage, had previously pleaded guilty to charges related to receiving proceeds from a romance scam. Prosecutors argued for a harsher sentence of nearly three and a half years, citing the seriousness of the crime and the need to deter others. Hajia’s defense team emphasized her role as a single mother and the impact a lengthy sentence would have on her child.

The judge ultimately imposed a one-year sentence, acknowledging Hajia’s acceptance of responsibility but also highlighting the importance of holding accountable those involved in such schemes. In addition to the prison term, Hajia was also ordered to pay over $4 million in restitution to the victims of the fraud.
